Slow Mornings & Quiet Goodbyes

A note on preschool, motherhood, quiet goodbyes, and an intro for newcomers on Pour Les Mères.

In just a few weeks, I’ll walk my daughter into preschool for the very first time. She’ll probably run in without looking back. I’ll probably cry before I make it to the parking lot.

As I’ve been thinking about this new season, it felt like the right time to finally begin writing here—to welcome you to Pour Les Mères.

For those who are new, Pour Les Mères means For the Mothers.
I started it because I wanted to create the kind of place I found myself searching for after becoming a mom. A modern-day village. A place that feels like a friend who understands. Somewhere to find honest conversations, practical resources, thoughtful recommendations, and reminders to slow down and notice the beauty that’s already around us.

Maybe it’s a hospital bag checklist that saves you hours of research. A favorite recipe your toddler will actually eat. Or simply the words you needed on a day that felt heavier than expected.

Whatever season you’re in, I hope you feel welcome here.

Before motherhood, life felt...fluid.

I measured my days by how much I accomplished. Productivity was something I wore almost like a badge of honor. There was always another project, another trip, another goal to chase.

Then Stella arrived.

Somewhere between contact naps, playground adventures, endless rounds of Magnatiles, and answering whether Mousey needs to use the potty for the hundredth time, my pace changed.
She taught me something I didn’t know I needed to learn.
How to slow down. Not because life became easier. But because she made me realize what I had been rushing past. Right now, our mornings still belong entirely to us.

Long walks around the lake.
Coffee dates that somehow last until lunchtime.
Baking something completely unnecessary just because it sounds fun.
Lingering a little longer before leaving the house.

These are the moments that quietly become a life. And now, they’re about to change. I know preschool will be wonderful for her. I truly do.

I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to spend every day with Stella since she was born, and that makes this transition feel especially emotional. It feels like the end of one beautiful chapter and the beginning of another.

I’m realizing that motherhood is full of these quiet goodbyes.

Not dramatic ones.
Just the kind you don’t notice until you’re standing in them.
Maybe that’s why this felt like the right moment to begin writing.

As Stella steps into something new, so am I.

This little corner of the internet will be where I share the stories happening behind the scenes—the emotions we don’t always talk about, the lessons I’m still learning, and the resources, products, recipes, places, and ideas that genuinely make family life a bit easier and a little more beautiful.

Thank you for being here at the beginning.

Until next time,

Julie
